Terms and Conditions

The rules and limitations that apply when you use MedHood.

Last updated September 1, 2026

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of medhood.org and related services provided by MedHood LLC ("MedHood," "we," "us," or "our"). By using the services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the services.

1. The services

MedHood organizes hospital-reported healthcare price information and provides search and comparison tools. Public search does not require an account. Features, coverage, and available data may change.

We do not sell medical care, insurance, subscriptions, advertising, or payment services through the website. The service is currently intended for use in the United States.

2. Price information and medical decisions

Hospital-reported amounts are informational and may be incomplete, delayed, incorrect, or inapplicable to your circumstances. They are not a quote, guarantee, final bill, insurance-benefit determination, or promise that a service is available.

Your final cost can depend on the services actually received, clinician fees, care setting, insurer and plan, deductible, copay, coinsurance, eligibility, and other factors. Confirm coverage and cost directly with the hospital, clinician, and insurer.

MedHood does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, legal advice, or insurance advice. Do not delay or change care based only on information from the service. Seek qualified professional assistance for medical decisions and emergency services for an emergency.

3. Eligibility

You must be legally capable of agreeing to these Terms. If you use the services for another person or organization, you represent that you are authorized to accept these Terms for them.

4. Accounts and authentication

Some features require a Firebase-authenticated account using Google or an existing email/password credential. You are responsible for safeguarding your account and for activity performed through it. Notify us if you believe your account has been compromised.

Authentication does not guarantee access to every feature. Certain operations may be limited or require additional authorization. MedHood does not ask for your password by email.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use the services unlawfully or to violate another person's rights;
  • submit false, misleading, infringing, or unlawfully obtained information;
  • submit another person's identifying or health information without authority;
  • attempt to access accounts, systems, or data without authorization;
  • evade security, rate limits, authentication, or access controls;
  • introduce malware or interfere with service availability;
  • impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation;
  • use automated access in a way that burdens the service or ignores published controls; or
  • scrape, reproduce, or commercialize the service in violation of law or our rights.

Ordinary use of a browser and access by legitimate search engines in accordance with published crawler controls are not prohibited.

6. User contributions

When contribution features are available, they require authentication. You must submit only information you have the right to provide and must not include names, account numbers, medical-record numbers, or other unnecessary identifying information.

Contributions are marked unverified and submitted for review. They do not automatically affect public hospital prices, search results, or search-engine content. We may reject, redact, retain, or delete a contribution to operate the service, enforce these Terms, protect privacy, or comply with law.

7. Contribution license

You retain ownership of content you submit. You grant MedHood a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, review, reproduce, adapt, and use that content to operate, secure, improve, and provide the services, subject to our Privacy Policy and applicable law. You represent that you have the rights needed to grant this license.

8. Intellectual property

The service software, design, branding, and original content are owned by MedHood or its licensors and are protected by applicable laws. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, revocable, non-transferable right to use the service for personal, lawful purposes.

Hospital files, procedure-code systems, and third-party materials may be governed by separate rights and terms. No ownership of those materials is transferred to you.

9. Third-party information and links

The service depends on information reported by hospitals and may link to third-party websites. MedHood does not control those sources and does not guarantee their accuracy, availability, security, or practices. A link does not imply endorsement.

10. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle information and is incorporated into these Terms.

11. Availability and changes

We may correct, update, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service. Outages, maintenance, provider failures, security events, and other interruptions may occur. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability or that every error will be corrected.

12. Suspension and termination

We may restrict or suspend access when reasonably necessary to protect users, data, providers, or the service; investigate suspected misuse; enforce these Terms; or comply with law. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will remain effective.

13. Disclaimer of warranties

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." MEDHOOD DISCLAIMS EXPRESS AND IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT PRICE INFORMATION IS COMPLETE, CURRENT, ERROR-FREE, OR SUITABLE FOR A PARTICULAR DECISION.

14. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, MEDHOOD AND ITS OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, OR OPPORTUNITY, ARISING FROM THE SERVICES. WHERE LIABILITY CANNOT BE EXCLUDED, IT IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID MEDHOOD FOR THE SERVICES IN THE PRIOR TWELVE MONTHS, IF ANY.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

15. Indemnification

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless MedHood and its officers, employees, and agents from third-party claims arising from your unlawful use of the services, your contributions, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of another person's rights.

16. Governing law and venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Subject to applicable law, disputes must be brought in the state or federal courts located in King County, Washington, and the parties consent to that venue.

17. General terms

These Terms and incorporated policies are the entire agreement about the services. If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain effective. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a reorganization or transfer of the service.

We may update these Terms by posting a revised version and changing the date above. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms where permitted by law.
