The provider performs this procedure with transluminal stent placement, a surgical procedure in which the provider places a stent at the site of occlusion in the blood vessel and expands it against the narrow portion of the wall of the vessel. The provider also performs this procedure with atherectomy, a surgical procedure to remove plaque from the blood vessel.
