Thoracic Spine Catheter Infusion Procedure

The provider places a catheter for the purpose of providing continuous infusion of a drug, such as an anesthetic, steroid, or opioid drug, into the space next to and around the vertebrae of the thoracic spine. The provider may instill these drugs to relieve pain or, in the case of steroids, reduce swelling and inflammation after a surgical procedure.
