Parathyroid Imaging with SPECT and Radiopharmaceuticals

The provider performs a SPECT study to image the parathyroid glands, also taking sets of planar images after administering very small amounts of two different radiopharmaceuticals or radioactive tracers. The provider takes the results and compares them to each other. In some cases, the provider performs a subtraction study along with the tomographic imaging to help identify abnormal tissue.
