Liver Preparation for Transplantation from Cadaver
In this procedure, the provider performs a backbench standard preparation of a liver from a cadaver donor before transplantation. The procedure includes removing the gallbladder, if needed, and removal of surrounding soft tissues. The provider also prepares the vena cava, portal vein, hepatic artery, and common bile duct for liver transplant. The provider separates left side segments II and III from right side segments I, IV, V, VI, VII, and VIII to prepare two allografts for the transplant.
