Liver Donor Preparation for Transplant Surgery
In this procedure, the provider performs backbench standard preparation of a liver from a cadaver donor before transplantation. The procedure includes removing the gallbladder, if needed, and removal of surrounding soft tissues. The provider also prepares the vena cava, portal vein, hepatic artery, and common bile duct for the liver transplant. The provider separates segments II, III, and IV of the left lobe of the liver from segments I and V to VIII of the right lobe to prepare two allografts in the procedure.
