In this procedure, the provider places a new implantable defibrillator pulse generator in a patient in a subcutaneous pocket in the front of a patient’s chest. The provider performs this procedure for a patient with a lead in at least three chambers of the heart. This service is primarily done for artificial regulation of a patient’s heart rate by the device in patients with arrhythmia, which is an irregular heart rhythm.
