Diaphragm and Cervical Cap Fitting Procedure

In this procedure, the provider fits the patient with a diaphragm or cervical cap and educates the patient on self–insertion. The purpose of a diaphragm is to prevent sperm from entering the uterus during intercourse to prevent pregnancy. The purpose of the cervical cap is for collecting menstrual flow or to assist in artificial insemination. The cervical cap is not a contraceptive.
