Closure of Atrial Septal Defect (ASD)

In this procedure, the provider closes an opening between the atria, or upper chambers of the heart, the result of a birth defect or surgically created. The provider inserts a catheter through a large vein in the groin and threads it into the right side of the heart. The provider injects dye and obtains images of the upper and lower chambers.
