The provider performs a cystourethroscopy, inspection of the bladder's interior, the urethra, the prostatic urethra, and the ureteric openings using a cystoscope passed through the urethra and into the bladder. In the procedures represented by CPT codes 52281 and 52282, the physician dilates a urethral stricture and may perform a meatotomy (make an incision in the urethral meatus) or inject contrast material for radiological study.
